METHOD NO 1: REBOOT THE SYSTEM

Usually, when users face any issue or error, the first solution that comes in their mind (probably) is to reboot the system. The same is a tried and tested method, which, most of the time, solves the issues quickly. So, it can also apply to the high disk usage problem in Windows 10.

Make sure to choose the ‘Restart’ option because it starts your computer in a new state, and it might help fix the issue. On the other hand, there is a ‘shut down’ option, which does not solve the disk issue as it preserves the system state, and it only turns off the computer. 

The rebooting of the system can help you get out of trouble, but it would not let you know its underlying reason.

After rebooting, the most considerable solution that can fix the problem of any application or program is updating it to the latest version. So, if you are having a high disk usage problem with Windows 10, you need to update Windows 10 to the recent version of it. 

When the problem arises in your hard disk, check if you are up to date to the new version of Windows 10, or is there any latest update available. First of all, you need to confirm that the computer is infected or not. If you have an Anti-virus software on the system, it ought to catch the problem already. But if the anti-virus software has not worked perfectly, force it to scan the hard drive for an infection. METHOD NO 4: DISABLE THE WINDOWS SEARCH

A widespread bug in Windows 8 or Windows 10 can create a search loop, which can be the reason behind the wbengine.exe high disk usage. Open the admin prompt and enter the command: net.exe stop “Windows Search”  to temporarily stop the facility of Windows Search. If you want to disable it permanently, use the method you use to disable Windows search. But if the problem remains there, you don’t need to disable it. 

METHOD NO 6: RESETTING THE VIRTUAL MEMORY WINDOWS 10

Virtual memory takes the hard disk as RAM, and while treating it as RAM, it swaps out all temporary files when running out of actual RAM. Errors in pagefile.sys can be responsible for high disk usage in Windows 10. Reset the virtual memory of Windows 10 to get out of the high disk usage issue by following these steps.

• Open System Properties in your PC and then click on advanced system settings. 
• Now, a Performance section will appear on your computer screen, with an option of Settings, click it. 
• Choose the Advanced tab and press the Change button. A box will appear with the title ‘Automatically manage paging file size,’ make sure to check it. 
• Other than that, you can also choose ‘no paging file’ and then press OK and reboot the system. This process will improve disk performance in your system and also inhibit the virtual memory.
